Quick 3 Minute Relaxation Exercise

While meditating it is important to find a quiet location where you will not be disturbed. Make yourself as comfortable as possible, sitting in a chair or on the floor. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths, breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth as you do so. Pay attention to how each breath feels as it enters and leaves your body. Continue breathing deeply and slowly, focusing only on your breath until you feel your muscles start to relax and any tension in your body begins to fade away.


Once you have relaxed a bit, imagine that there is water flowing just beneath the surface of your skin. It is moving slowly up through the top of your head and down through your entire body, seeping out through your pores and washing away any tension in the muscles. Continue this exercise until you feel completely relaxed.


When you are ready to finish, slowly count to five while taking deep breaths. When you reach the number 5 open your eyes and take note of how much better prepared you are for whatever may come next in your day.
